Автор на основе обзора источниковедческой литературы и полевых записей дал анализ состояния изученности вопроса. В статье рассмотрены особенности взглядов автохтонов саянской тайги на окружающий мир, этиологические предания, особенности календаря, метрологические понятия, время суток, стороны света. Представлены знания охотников-оленеводов о повадках зверей, обеспечивающие успех в охоте. Автор статьи показал, что знания об окружающем мире носили чисто практический характер.

In the article an overview of source literature and field records and an analysis of the state of the study of the question is given. Peculiarities of the views of the autochthons of the Sayan taiga on the surrounding world, etiological traditions, calendar features, metrological concepts, time of day, the side of the world are considered. The knowledge of hunter-reindeer herders about the habits of animals that provide success in hunting is shown. The author of the article showed that the knowledge about the world was of a purely practical nature.
